Book Review: A Home in Drayton Valley

Product Details

A Home in Drayton Valley
by Kim Vogel Sawyer

From the back of book:

Hoping to escape the poor conditions of 1880 New York, Tarsie Raines and her friends Joss and Mary Brubacher and their two children set off for Kansas abroad an unusual wagon train.  BUt when tragedy strikes on the trip across the prairie, Tarsie is thrown into a partnership with Joss that leaves them both questioning God and their plans for the future.
As their funds dwindle and nothing goes as planned, will they give up and go their separate ways?  Or will God use their time in Drayton Valley in a way they never expected?

My thoughts:

I really enjoyed this book.  It kept me wanting more!  I feel in love with the characters.  I kept reading because I wanted to know if they were going to be able to get out of New York without getting caught.  If they would really travel to Kansas with "blacks" when Joss had should a strong dislike to them.  Once in Kansas you hoped things would go smoother or at least get a little easier but the challenges kept coming.  As the character experienced these challenges I found it interesting to watch them grow and learn and love.

I give this book 4 out of 5 stars.

And yes, I received this book for free from Bethany House for this review.  But I told the whole truth, and nothing but the truth!
