Book Review: No Safe Harbor

No Safe Harbor
by Elizabeth Ludwig

Summary from: http://elizabethludwig.net/Home_Page.php

Lured by a handful of scribbled words across a faded letter, Cara Hamilton sets off from 1896 Ireland on a quest to find the brother she'd thought dead. Her search lands her in America, amidst a houseful of strangers and one man who claims to be a friend - Rourke Walsh.

Despite her brother's warning, Cara decides to trust Rourke and reveals the truth about her purpose in America. But he is not who he claims to be, and as rumors begin to circulate about an underground group of dangerous revolutionaries, Cara's desperation grows. Her questions lead her ever closer to her brother, but they also bring her closer to destruction as Rourke's true intentions come to light.

My thoughts:
I liked this book overall.  I will admit that I thought the first half of the book seemed to drag on and on with character and plot development.  I did keep reading!  I wanted to know if Cara was going to find her brother.  I was curious if Rourke was bad or good.  I wanted to know what happen to each of the girls at the boarding house!

The second half of the book was a much more enjoyable read.  It moved along nicely with the plot development and climax of the story.  I enjoyed the ending.  It was somewhat predictable but still enjoyable.

I am just realizing this is a series, I am currently undecided if I will read the next book in the series.

I would give this book 2.5 out of 5 stars.

And yes, I received this book for free from Bethany House for this review.  But I told the whole truth, and nothing but the truth!
